From Pastor Bo's DeskGOD’S COVENANT OF WEALTH - 1
On Wednesday the 8th of May 20, 2013 I opened our local news paper here called Palm Coast Observer, on the front page was a big headliner that reads: “Board prepare for the worst” underneath this headline explained that our school board (Flagler county school board) met few days earlier to determine what schools will be closed in the next coming school year in order for the county to save $1.7 million. They were planning to cut technology, art, music, and teachers just to mention a few. The explanation is that they are short of funds and so they have to trim cost. However, just few lines down on the same news paper front page read another headline that says that the same county has approved the jail expansion project that will cost $15 million. So the interesting thing is that the county that cannot find $1.7 million for our schools, somehow found $15 million for our jail system. Later that week I also read that the same county has approved the buying of an old abandoned hospital building for $1.5 million which they are going to renovate into a bigger police station for another $4 to $5 million. Somehow they found or intend to find upwards of $21 million for police and jail but they will cut $1.7 million from our children and deprive them of technology, art, music, teachers etc in our schools. Our leaders and politicians have failed us because they are constantly looking for their personal political and financial gain, and God is expecting the church to take the reign and make the difference. Somewhere in my spirit I was so grieved and wondered how we can allow this to happen and what can we do to make a difference? The truth is that many times, we as Christians fail because we are helpless (even though we are not suppose to be). The bible clearly says in Proverbs 10:15-16 The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty. [16] The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin. Wealth in the hand of the godly creates a strong city, while destruction comes from poverty. In the same verse we see that the labor of the righteous leads to life, in order words when the righteous has wealth, they use it for life creating ventures while the wicked uses their wealth for ventures that leads to death (sin) that is why in Deuteronomy 8:18 the bible says But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. If God doesn't want you to get wealth why will HE give you the power to get it? Prov10:22 also said The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. If God doesn't want you to be rich why will HE bless you, if HIS blessing makes rich? When the ungodly has money, they propagate pornography, abortion, homosexuality, sin, death and destruction because that is what is in their heart, so that’s where they put their treasures. So what do you think true children of God will propagate if they have money? I will argue that they will propagate and establish God’s kingdom and covenant and life giving ventures according to Matthew 6:21 and Luke 12:34 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also because your heart dictates your investments. This is why God wants you to control enormous financial resources. Therefore, God wants HIS children to be rich and wealthy so that HIS kingdom might become the priority because money answereth all things - Ecclesiastes 10:19. Hence, 2 Corinthians 8:9 becomes a very important scripture: For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich. Jesus transferred HIS wealth to us on the cross just as HE transferred HIS righteousness, health, and healing on the cross, so that we can become an effective advocate of HIS cause on earth. God is giving us wealth with an assignment. God wants you to be rich!!!
